About: DJ Jones

DJ is currently President and CEO of Diamond Sports Marketing & Entertainment, Cohost of the new Bounce Around Columbus on Bounce TV and partner and Cohost/Executive Producer of market-leading television show “Sportsvisions” and co-founder of SportsvisionsUSA LLC. DJ is a veteran of 20-years in radio and television as a sportscaster, analyst, and talk show host. In 2010 DJ was selected as a member of the University of Georgia Bulldogs Football Radio Broadcasting Team with IMG on WSB Radio Atlanta. He is the former Sports Director and Host of DJ & FriendsRadio Show, Archway Broadcasting (2003-04).

Mr. Jones is the former Vice President of Football Operations for the Columbus Wardogs Arena Football Team (2001-03),television Sports Director/Anchor for WRBL News TV-3 (1999-2001), cohost of the DJ and Mike Vee Radio Show on WDAK (1997-99) He also has worked as Director of Sports for Olsher Sports Marketing in NY, NY (1993-96), National Promotions Manager Mizuno USA in San Francisco(1991-93) and Regional Account Manager Codman & Shertliff Surgical Instrumentation Company a Division of J &J Atlanta(1989-90) DJ was drafted by the Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates after his senior year in high school (June 1980) and he was drafted by the NFL\’s Green Bay Packers in April 1984.

DJ played for the Green Bay Packers (1984-86) and the Denver Broncos AFC Champs(1987-88). The former University of Georgia football player played on the Dawgs 1980 NCAA National Championship Football Team and three Southeastern Conference Championship Teams at UGA. His collegiate career included three consecutive Sugar Bowl appearances (81, 82 & 83), Cotton Bowl (1984), and he was selected to play in the Senior Bowl All-star Game (1984). DJ is one of only a few athletes in the world to ever be drafted by both Major League Baseball and the NFL professional sports teams. DJ’s freshman class at UGA (1980), which featured college football Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker, is considered to be the most successful recruiting class in UGA Football history.

Herschel selected DJ Jones to travel to New York with the Walker family in 1982 to share in the Heisman Trophy festivities. DJ’s four-year record included 44 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie) DJ was an All American quarterback at Carver High School (1979-80) in Columbus, GA. He was named All Bi-city in four sports: football, basketball, baseball, and track. The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer named him All Bi-City Male Athlete of the Year in 1980. DJ serves in many civic and community activities.

He served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Chattahoochee Valley for 13 years, Eight-year host for the Alzheimer’s Association Dancing Stars of Columbus Fundraiser, Seven Year Director of the Annual One Columbus Unity Golf Tournament, National Football League Alumni Association, National Football League Retired Players Association, Carver High School Alumni Association.

DJ is a member of the Greater Beulah Baptist church Dr. C. Medley Hayes Pastor and he is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. DJ is a motivational speaker and role model for young people. While serving in the community, DJ has been recognized with many awards. He was awarded the 2017 High Definition Women’s Organization President Obama Presidential Award, 2014 Community Service Award by the Courier/ Eco Latino Newspaper, 2012 Legacy Award by Girls Inc., 2011 Advocacy Award by the Columbus Times Newspaper. He was also honored by the Rainbow Push Coalition with the 2005 “Trailblazer Award” for outstanding character and unselfish giving. DJ’s Carver High School football jersey was retired in 2002 and he was also inducted into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
